Old Key Lime House, 300 East Ocean Avenue, Lantana. Three-word review if you don't need details: I loved everything. Following an appointment in West Palm Beach, we decided to have lunch on the way home and headed for Old Key Lime House. I'd never been here, but after what seemed like a week of rain, the skies were finally clear and lunch with a water view sounded like a good idea. I gladly handed off my car to the valet and although it was free, I tipped him on the way in (and, out). For those who are more adept at parking than me, there are some non-valet parking areas and street spaces available. I cannot parallel park and I am quite happy to let someone else back my car into a space, so it's always valet for me. We were promptly seated in the Tiki Bar area with a great view of the docks and water. It wasn't busy and the friendly waitress, Bri, came immediately to our table and took our drink order. Since we were dining at the Old Key Lime House, of course I had to have a Key Lime martini. My husband had the Rum Runner with an extra float of dark rum. My martini was $9.58 (and it wasn't Happy Hour, so how can you beat that price?!) and tasted like a boozy slice of Key Lime pie. My husband's Rum Runner was $13.08 with the extra float, and it was a bit too strong for me. Which might be the only time I ever write a sentence like that. However, my husband said it was perfect. At $9 each, I assumed the soups were cups. We ordered clam chowder and lobster bisque. GASP! They were big, honkering bowls of soup and they were both served hot. Can I tell you how many times I've gotten lukewarm soup in restaurants? CONSTANTLY. How does a beachy, old Florida-style place with a laid-back staff and a clear emphasis on drinking (4, count em, 4 bars including an outdoor "boat" bar) get the food service so very right when their pricier competitors often miss the mark? I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich ($19), and my husband went entirely old school and got the fried shrimp basket ($19). Both were served with exceptionally crisp and well-seasoned fries (something I don't always like because I am a PURIST and putting seasoning on French fries seems unnecessary to me. But these were great, and the seasoning was subtle) and both meals were delivered hot. Again, how does this tropical 70's throwback turn out hot food, perfectly cooked? The mahi was lightly blackened and an absolute treat. There were 6 good sized shrimp in the basket with the fries and it brought me back to the fried shrimp my dad used to bring home from Neptune's Bar on Friday nights in the summer when I was growing up. We also had very generous pours of Sauvignon Blanc ($12 each) with our meal, and we could not finish everything. I wanted to try the key lime pie, but I had NO room, so I'll save that for next time. Had the meal been merely average, I still would have been happy because I loved the airy, indoor/outdoor feel of the Tiki deck, the relaxing view of the sailboats docked in the water and the Key West vibes. But the food was excellent and moderately priced, so the atmosphere was a welcome bonus. And speaking of prices, I provided a copy of the bill. No mandatory service charge (all you overpriced coffee houses out there, please take note) at the Old Key Lime House. I paid cash but I asked the waitress if they charged a credit card fee (just for you guys!) and she said no. The bad news for me is that it's a 25-mile ride to my house via the dreaded I-95. We missed the traffic and made it home in 35 minutes, but I would not attempt Happy Hour, as much as I'd love to, knowing that I might hit traffic after a few Key Lime Martinis. It will be strictly a late lunch for us the next time we are nostalgic for a little bit of the Jimmy Buffet lifestyle.

First off is the view!!!! Even just for drinks the place is awesome! Only had the Fish Dip and Fish finger appetizers. Delicious! Would recommend for the atmosphere alone! Service is ok... but will definitely try again!

Came here about an hour before closing and it was mostly empty. The service was amazing and the view of the water is impeccable. The string lights decorated around the restaurant added to the view. The mahi mahi tacos were delectable and so fulfilling, I only ate one and felt full! The second taco became my lunch for the next day. We also ordered the key lime pie since it's called old key lime house. I must say, it was the BEST key lime pie I've ever had in my years upon years of being alive! You must go to try their key lime pie if you are in the area! It is truly unforgettable and every key lime pie I've had since I visited this restaurant is incomparable. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Palm Beach area now.

The food was great!! It was a hot day and this is an outside place. Service was good.

This was one of the better meals we had on our trip! We showed up during happy hour and got a round of tasty margaritas. Our server was extremely friendly and made our visit that much more fun. For dinner, I had the key lime tacos with blackened mahi mahi, and they were very good!! Fun atmostphere and water views, what more could you ask for!

Really enjoyed this spot! We got lucky. Didn't have to wait. Also get a happy hour drink at the bar. Super cheap for a cocktail. Key lime martini. We got the shrimp for appetizer. Fresh. And salmon for dinner with beans and rice. All excellenr

We first visited Old Key Lime House probably 15 years ago and loved the quirky Key West/Bahamas vibe and decor. The food was delicious that first visit and on subsequent visits but we had not been back in almost five years. On this visit, the atmosphere is still quirky and delightful. The house was packed but we were seated within 10 minutes and almost immediately attended to by Leah who provided outstanding service throughout the visit. We started with the rum runner and Key lime martini. The rum runner was light on the rum but still refreshing. That rum lightness was rectified on my second glass with the addition of a floater. The martini was like drinking a liquor key lime pie but also light on the alcohol. For appetizer we had the steamed clams. The clams were cooked well but the sauce stole the show. I could put that sauce in a cup and make anything taste good. Got the main course, we had the shrimp and grits and the tuna poke bowl. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, The sauce atop the grits with bacon bits was classic. A few drops of hot sauce brought this dish to the next level. My wife was underwhelmed by the tuna poke because it needed more soy sauce or ponzu. The addition of salt to the dish elevated the poke. Big shout out to Leah and the rest of the staff; hostesses and food runners, who made this mad Sunday a wonderful outing.

I am slowly working my way through a list of historic restaurants in South Florida, and Old Key Lime House certainly fits that bill as it touts itself as the oldest restaurant on the water with the largest tiki bar. So we took off on an adventure one afternoon and made the drive up from Fort Lauderdale. We got here early enough for happy hour (M-F 4-7) and the place was already filling up. The parking lot is small but they do have valet parking so we dumped the car and wandered inside. Now when they say a place is big, know that this place really is BIG. The person at the door told us that there were 5 bars (one was closed on the day we were there) and it will take a while to meander out back to what I think must be the best bar as it overlooks the water and you can see the sunset. They even had live music and this was on a weeknight- can't imagine how much more fun it would be on a weekend! We took a seat at the large bar, ordered a couple of drinks and looked over the menu. The bartenders were on their game, making the drinks quickly and pulling the beers from the ice tub. Also important to note is that the happy hour is on drinks only, there are no food specials. We decided we would start with some Grouper bites (deep fried and delicious!) and then ordered up a couple of burgers. Know that they are not big on special requests and it says right on the menu that there are no substitutions. Easier for the kitchen but a bit difficult for my picky eater friend who wanted his burger with onions and pickles only and it comes with lettuce and tomato. They did try to make him happy with raw onion and little cup of pickles so he ended up in a good place. The beer was cold, the drinks well poured and the food was good. If I had a wish, it would be that it was closer to Fort Lauderdale as this needs to be a destination unto itself for those of us not lucky enough to live nearby. But the next time we are in the mood for a road trip, we will definitely venture up this way again!
